My work is rooted in years of education and experience as a journalist and content writer. Before embarking on my photography career, I spent a decade working in magazines, product marketing, and social media. Storytelling, image design, strategy, and pinpointing product desirability are the backbone of all my work.
I shoot with your marketing goals in mind, whether that means perfectly composing an item for a DoorDash thumbnail, or leaving “white space” in the image for text placement.
I am your creative content partner: I work with you to clearly define what a results-driven collaboration looks like for your business, and will provide clear communication throughout the process. Your success is my success.

I’m based in San Diego, CA, but will happily travel for a project.
I shoot social media, menu, and event content for bars and restaurants, and I shoot brand and product campaigns from my home studio.
My favorite scenes to shoot are use-case scenarios where desirability is generated through sharing a product’s uniqueness, setting a scene in which it’s used, and creating imagery that allows a prospective customer to visualize themselves in that scenario.
I like using similar principles at bars and restaurants too. Customer POVs, luscious details that highlight craftsmanship, and showcasing personality or ambiance that help undecided patrons to choose one establishment over another.

Yes. I require every client sign a contract with Maya Seaman Creative prior to starting work.
Contracts are for everyone’s benefit and protection because it holds all parties accountable for deliverables, payment, licensing and usage, project scope, timelines, and anything else discussed during our negotiations.
-
First, all potential clients must fill out and submit a Client Intake Form. Then:
I will contact you with any clarifying questions about your project. This helps me create an accurate scope-of-work and proposal for you.
Once you accept the proposal, a detailed contract will be sent for you to sign, including a request for deposit.
The accepted deposit secures your spot on my calendar. We’ll schedule a shoot date and I’ll request a list of items that I’ll be photographing. (This helps me plan the most efficient use of my time.)
The main shoot will take place over the agreed-upon timeframe.
Post-production starts. I cull, edit, and refine the images to your specifications.
Your edited, high-resolution images are delivered within 7 days via a link to your own private gallery. From here, you can view and download the images for up to 30 days.
A final invoice is issued.

My main camera is a Sony A7RIV and I use Sony G Master lenses with it.
I also have a variety of professional lighting equipment that travels with me so I can create crisp images, freeze action, and set any mood you want to create.
In studio, I have a library of backdrops, props, glassware, and set pieces. I also shoot lifestyle content in my garden.

You may have heard the term “licensing and usage.” This refers to where and how a business can legally use images provided by a photographer or artist.*
Every photo I take is my intellectual property and by contracting with me, I’m agreeing to let you use those photos with specific permissions.
It’s the same with music—it’s why your video will get removed from Instagram or YouTube if you use a song that you didn’t pay a permission or license fee for.
The larger your business and the more places you want to use an image usually equals higher license fees.
Basically, the more eyes on it, the more money you make from it, and the artist who provided it should be compensated fairly for it.
I’m happy to answer any questions you may have, but each agreement is customized and calculated using current industry standards.
*All social media packages for small or local businesses include 1 year of organic social media, brand website, and editorial licensing.
