Day 5 of 31 Halloween cocktails that won’t rot your teeth (but might rot your brain)

I found this cocktail in Bartender's Manifesto. It's by Levi Tyma, and it magically manages to combine bitter, smoky, sweet, and tart with perfect balance (for me anyway—I love bitter drinks). It's billed as a summertime sipper, but I'll be damned if this isn't a witches brew.

Love Lies Bleeding

1.5 oz punt e mes
.5 oz mezcal
.5 oz cardamaro
.5 oz aperol
.125 oz lime juice
2 dashes Bittercube Jamaican no. 2 bitters

Add all ingredients to a mixing glass with ice. Stir to chill, then strain into a rocks glass over a BFC. Express and garnish with a grapefruit peel.
