what’s in the box?!

A delicious cocktail, that's what. A simple shaken cocktail, the Seven Sins is a perfect Halloween party drink, one which rejects the typical holiday spice ingredients while not ostracizing them completely (hello, cinnamon sprinkle). I’d recommend batching this one and serving it to guests as cold as possible, but only after they reveal to you their preferred sin. Examples encouraged. Recipe by Jack Coltharp.

Headless Horseman

Ingredients

1 oz. Lairds Applejack brandy
1 oz. Rittenhouse rye whiskey
3/4 oz. lemon juice
3/4 oz. grenadine

Method

• Add ingredients to a mixing tin with ice.

• Shake until chilled (about 8–10 seconds).

• Pour into a chilled coup glass.

• Garnish with a pinch of cinnamon.
