Navigating the Underworld is a treacherous task. This bubbly concoction melds luscious black currant, reposado tequila, and bright ginger—perfect for a hot walk to Hades. Recipe from Trader Vic, circa 1946.

El Diablo

Ingredients

1 1/2 oz. Reposado tequila
1/2 oz. crème de cassis
3/4 oz. lime juice (freshly squeezed)
2 oz. ginger beer

Method

  • Shake first three ingredients in a tin with ice until chilled.

  • Pour into a collins glass over ice.

  • Top with ginger beer and stir gently.

  • Garnish with a lime wedge.
