One Night Stand was a pop-up restaurant created by two former cooks from Herb & Sea in Encinitas. Same Same wanted to support their friends’ newest endeavor and decided to host them for the weekend. With no social media content, website, or imagery to pull from for Same Same’s event marketing, I had to create One Night Stand’s written and visual media from scratch. I introduced myself to one of the chefs, explained my marketing goals, and they graciously invited me to their menu test-cook, which was happening at a random friend’s apartment in Cardiff.

Camera in hand, I utilized the natural light that poured in from the apartment’s west-facing picture window, shooting the dishes as they came out while racing the setting sun.

I also interviewed the chefs and wrote a blog post for Same Same’s website, but that’s been taken down. The event was a huge success and it almost sold out both nights. The chefs have moved on to other projects now, but I’m still proud of these images and the marketing push I created to promote two bourgeoning culinary talents from my hometown.
